Textiles From the Mayan Heartland

ABOUT US:

We partner with indigenous Mayan artisans in the central highlands of Guatemala, to consciously collaborate on designing one-of-a-kind textiles.

We work directly with artists one-on-one at the ground level to ensure quality control and clear communication of designs, while finding new ways of relating to creation and consumption.

We are a fair-trade business, meaning that our artisans are paid directly.

Our work is impactful and important. Sustainability is not enough for us; we are abundant and regenerative!

Value-added products. Not only are we preserving the weaving traditions, but we are artfully co-creating unique clothes and designs which are both fashionable and functional.

The value of these living textiles goes far beyond their market value or dollar amount: we are preserving cultural traditions.

OUR MISSION:

To preserve cultural traditions and improve the livelihoods of artisans and merchants, inspiring creativity and autonomy through fair-trade and regenerative practices. Honoring the traditions of the past, to create a more vibrant future.

OUR STORY:

Curiosity and adventure brought us to Guatemala, and what we found there was a vibrant community with a rich cultural history.

Enchanted by the magic and mystique of Lake Atitlan, we set down roots and made ourselves a home in a small pueblo called Tzununá, which means “land of the hummingbird” in the local language of Kaq’chikel.

More than seven years later, we continue to find inspiration and excitement in the Mayan heartland of Guatemala.
